1. It's based on Oracle's Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) framework and Active Session History (ASH) - AWR and ASH are the source-of-truth for Oracle performance data since 10g.
2. It provides developers with a one-stop-shop for SQL tuning, by allowing statements and their performance to be tagged during development, and providing simple commands to compare performance and execution plans before and after changes.
3. It works against all Oracle versions back to 7.3, using any available performance data provided by Oracle.
4. It doesn't require installation of, or access to, Oracle Enterprise Manager middleware - this usually provides DBA-only access in any case.
5. It doesn't require any SQL scripting or knowledge of Oracle's tuning views or performance API procedures.
