WinNc is a throwback to the good old days with a product that resembles and works just like its old lookalike but with added functionality and full windows flexibility.

This replacement for Windows Explorer has an independent double-pane view and offers drag-and-drop support for moving files between the panes. Tool buttons and menu items provide access to the standard file-management methods. You can format, copy, move, delete, view and edit files. A Norton Commander Filemanager, WinNc is a file manager for all Windows system, include Vista and Windows 7, that replaces the use of the existing Windows Explorer. Developed by a small Dutch multimedia company called Dunes MultiMedia, WinNc uses the same key shortcuts and the same mouse functionality as a well-known DOS file manager, Norton Commander.

The product gives you direct drag-and-drop access to servers, network neighborhoods and other network computers in the double-pane interface, each of which function independently. In addition to standard file-management functions such as formatting, copying, moving, deleting and editing files, WinNc lets you view inside compressed files as if they were directories (it allows you to split, encrypt and FTP files, too). WinNc can view JPEG, GIF, BMP, TGA, WMF, PCX, WAV, FLC, DOCS, XLS, HTML, MID and AVI files. It supports extraction from WAV to MP3 files, ripping audio cds to MP3 and converting WAV to MP3. A new feature in WinNc.Net is the capability to record files on CDs or DVDs. WinNc.Net is shareware and can be freely downloaded and distributed from the Dunes MultiMedia website.

WinNc allows you to handle compressed files as if they were directories and supports all regular compression standards. Just press enter to open a zip file and select the files you want to compress or uncompress. Then use the old F5 or F6 hot keys to copy or move files in to the other panel containing your target directory. For the web WinNc allows you to upload your homepage files to a http/ftp server using the built in FTP function.
