Finite Element Modelling for 2D acoustics. Wavefront is software for modeling the propagation of acoustic waves in two-dimensional spaces - it does this by using finite-element techniques. It ware primary designed to investiagte the shape of wavefronts products by different horn flare arrangements and thus to determine their directivity patterns.

Wavefront works with scale CAD drawings supplied in DXF format, allowing the user to directly simulate designs for objects such as loudspeaker enclosures or large acoustic spaves such as rooms. The designer designated certain objects as sources of sound when creating the drawing - wavefront then allows the user to specify the properties if various sources, fills and drawing with "air" and presents an animation of the propagation of the sound waves. This software is not concerned with vibrational analyses of sold bodies - all boundaries are perfectly solid and propagation only occurs through the perfectly elastic medium of the simulated air.
