Each personal computer system includes several physical hardware components (i.e. CPU, mother board, hard drive, network card etc. ) and each components have there own properties (i.e. CPU Name ="AAA", CPU clock ="BBB", etc.) . VarySafe detects each typical physical hardware components properties and define them as numeric values. Finally VarySafe combines those numeric values into one alpha numerical string which so called hardware fingerprint. This hardware fingerprint represents each computer systems physical hardware combinations and their properties. Even same brand same model computer products have different hardware fingerprints, because some hardware components have their own serial number individually (ex. each hard driver has their own unique SMART serial number.). By using hardware fingerprint, VarySafe could identify each computer system successfully.
VarySafe also combines your data (ex. CAD drawing information, Word text information etc.) with VarySafe's unique viewer application, and then makes data contained a single executable file. Logically speaking, your data are wrapped with a executable application. We call this data contained single executable file as "ActiveCapsule" file. In this terminology, the ActiveCapsule means intelligent executable viewer/security application software which wraps and protects your data. Because the data are passive components in the computing world, it is hard to protect themselves by themselves. Every body can try to attack your data by using their software programs. Even though, you can encrypt / pack / scramble your data, you have to reveal the password or method to decrypt / unpack / unscramble your data for your data user, because he /she has to open your original raw data from their application software (i.e. CAD application, word processor application, spreadsheet application software etc.). Just in front of your data user's software program, you have to reveal your original raw data. This situation is based on that because you send only data to your data user.
VarySafe supports you to escape from this situation. VarySafe builds data wrapped a single executable viewer/authentication/protection software file (ActiveCapsule file) for you. Finally, you can send this ActiveCapsule file to he/she who may use your data. ActiveCapsule file can run under your data user's personal computer system stand alone. No other software (i.e. CAD application, word processor, spread sheet, PDF reader etc.) is needed for your data. In the initialize stage of ActiveCapsule file running, ActiveCapsule checks whether current computer system where ActiveCapsule is running is identical with your data user's computer or not based on inside data record. In this stage, ActiveCapsule use hardware fingerprint to identify current computer system. If hardware fingerprint is identical with internal record, ActiveCapsule unwraps your data and shows it to your data user. Incase of hardware fingerprint mismatch, ActiveCapsule terminated without any unwrap process. By using this mechanism, you can only show your data to only authenticated users, and restrict redistribution.
For you to input your document data into ActiveCapsule file, VarySafe supply special printer driver called VarySafe printer. During the installation process, VarySafe setup automatically install VarySafe printer in your computer. This printer works similar with other virtual printers (i.e. Adobe Acrobat distiller printer, MS Document Image Writer etc.). As soon as you prints any document into this printer, VarySafe printer gathers all printing information and converts it with a single VarySafe ActiveCapsule file. By using this printer, you can easily convert any printable documents with ActiveCapsule file.
