USB Drive Guard is an application that runs silently on any windows PC and when someone inserts any type of storage device it will check a database on your network to see if its has been authorized. If the device has not been authorized then the device will be ejected so the person can't use it and a window pops up with your customized message. If it has been authorized the user sees nothing and the device can be used normally. Add another layer of security to your companies computers by protecting your data & prevent users from bringing in viruses on their USB or CD/DVD storage drives.

Ejecting a drive doesn't mean it is physically removed and goes flying out of the computer. It means that Windows can no longer see, or use it. The drive will still be plugged into the USB port. This application does NOT turn off the ability for windows to use all USB devices like all the other software out there. USB Drive Guard allows you through a network database to approve certain drives and when an approved drive is plugged into any computer running this software it will be allowed. If a drive was never approved then the drive will be ejected and the ejected drive will be logged to the database for you to review. Other USB devices like printers, mice, and keyboards are not affected in any way. Only devices that can read & write data.

Think about how easy it is for an employee, or anyone to walk into your business with a tiny USB thumb drive and insert it then extract any company documents and take it with them. Another issue is employees bringing in IPODS's and other MP3 players, or virus infested drives. You now have a way to block or allow this type of access all from one easy to use administrator interface.

All storage drives have a unique serial number. USB Drive Guard gets the serial number then allows you to add the device to its Authorized list. Once authorized this device can be used on all your computers on the network. If you change the status of this drive or if the drive was never added the drive will always be ejected and can't be used on any computer that you have installed USB Drive Guard onto.

USB Drive Guard Features:
1. Eject any type of USB storage device: Flash Drive, Smart Phones, MP3 Players, etc.
2. Optionally disable (USB or internal) CD & DVD drives by computer name when disk is inserted.
3. Ejection is done by unique serial number and not by turning off all USB ports.
4. Easy to use Administrators interface to authorize drives and run reports.
5. All ejected drives are written to a log with Date, Time, PC Name, Windows User Name, Drive Label, I.P. Address, Drive Letter, and Devices Serial Number.
6. All approved drives are also optionally logged each time they are used.
7. Customizable ejection alert window text. Create your own ejection message.
8. Easy to install either on each PC or through a Windows Domain GPO.
9. If the network connection is lost ALL USB drives are ejected no matter what unless you activate cache mode where approved drives are saved to the pc for offline use. Great for laptop users who take their laptops home after work.
10. If the device is inserted when the PC is powered off the drive will be ejected when powered on. This prevents someone from trying to circumvent USB Drive Guard.
11. Runs on Windows XP, 2000, 2003 & 2008 Server,Vista & Windows 7. (32 or 64 Bit versions)
12. All these features are controlled and managed from one Administration application that can be shared over your network from any computer. You never have to have to go to each computer to make any changes after the initial file installation. GPO installation instructions on our support page provide network admins a mass installation option.

Server Installation: Start the application USBsetup.exe you just downloaded and choose Server Setup Installation. You will install the Server Setup Installation onto just one PC on your network. Give everyone read and write access to this installation folder, and subfolders. The default installation path is "C:\USBDRIVEGUARD". All computer users running the USB ejection client will need to read and write to this folder and subfolders. You do not have to install on a version of Windows "Server". Any version of Windows from Windows 2000 and newer will do for the Administrator Server application. You can create a shortcut for the main Administrator application file called "USBAdmin.exe" and place this shortcut onto any computer on your network to use this application.
The default user name and password when logging into the USB Drive Guard Administrator is "admin" for both. You should change the password as soon as you can for security purposes.

Work Station Client Installation: Start the application USBsetup.exe you just downloaded and choose Client Setup Installation. This type of install is for every computer on your network that you want to run the USB Drive Guard Client on. Do not change the default installation path. This client application needs 32 Bit or 64 Bit versions of the following versions of Windows: XP Professional or XP Home Edition, Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
