Open StorThing and press the New button. When the New Archive dialog appears you can type the
archive file name directly or click the button with three dots and use a Windows file dialog.

If you want to secure your new archive with a password check the Encrypt Archive checkbox. Select the
type of encryption you want and pick a password. Press the green check button when finished.

How to verify an archive
StorThing has a built-in mechanism to verify the data blocks within an archive. Press the Verify button to
have StorThing conduct this self-check.

Adding notes to an archive
The Tools dialog has a note box where you can add any annotation about the archive.

When StorThing is installed, the setup software sets a number of settings in the System Registry to
support context menus in Windows Explorer.

Setting your default temporary directory
Normally StorThing defaults to the temporary directory assigned by the operating system. There are
times when you may want to change this setting. You can type or browse to the folder you want to use.
