Serviio is a DLNA compatible media server. Serviio is a free DLNA compatible media server. It allows you to stream your media files (music, video or images) to any DLNA-certified renderer device (e.g. a TV set, games console) on your home network.
Serviio uses a priority-based metadata extraction so that you can choose what metadata should describe your media files (e.g. audio track name, DVD cover, TV series and episodes names, etc.). These include metadata embedded into the media files themselves, locally stored metadata files and metadata that can be obtained online. With this strong tool you will be able to build your Serviio media library easily and impactfully.
Serviio works with any DLNA compliant device (TV, Playstation 3, etc.) and some other (XBox 360). It supports profiles for particular devices so that it can be tuned to maximise the devices potential and/or minimize lack of media format playback support (via transcoding).
With Serviio you get an easy-to-use solution for streaming your multimedia files.

3. Linux users must install FFmpeg via their OS distribution package manager.
Installation
1. Windows users can simply run the downloaded installer and go through the wizard.
2. Linux users need to unpack the installation package to a desired location.
3. Mac users need to unpack the software package to a desired location.
The server starts automatically after Windows start (as a service). Run ServiioConsole to start the console. Alternatively you don't have to start Serviio as a service but use bin/serviio.bat (with -stop attribute to stop a running instance).
You can select the appropriate profile on the Status tab. If you select Automatic profile detection Serviio will try to guess what device is talking to it and pick the proper profile automatically. This is useful if you have different devices on your network that you want to be served by Serviio. Automatic detection is currently supported for:
* Playstation 3
* XBox 360
* DirecTV
All unrecognized devices in the automatic detection mode will default to Generic DLNA profile.
Requirements:
* Java 6 installed
