This program is pop3 version for Outlook Notif, email notification utility for Outlook. So Microsoft still haven't included a notification tool that works when Outlook is closed? Outlook Notify POP3 is a small utility that runs in the system tray and notifies you of new emails.

Outlook Notify POP3 Features:

2. Configure how often you want the software to check for new emails.
3. Click on the notification to open your email, be it Outlook or even Outlook Web Access – ideal for those working from home.
4. Fully tested with Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix XenApp environments.

Please note: This software is aimed at those without access to a full Exchange 2007/2010 server which provides Exchange Web Access. The regular Outlook Notify is recommended in this environment.

Also note that Gmail accounts work but due to the nature of how Gmail works, if you have more than 290 unread email "anywhere" in the Gmail system (including archives but not read) the software will fail to work! I am working on fixing this asap.

Upon running the application, an icon will sit in the system tray. If you have unread emails upon launching the program, it will tell you how many. The software will not notify you of those emails again.
The next time a new email lands in your inbox, the software will notify you of its arrival. Should it happen that your inbox receives more than one mail item in between the allocated checking interval, the software will tell you exactly how many but only tell you the sender of the last received email.
Clicking on a notification will open Outlook or your chosen Web Access URL. Double clicking on the icon when a notification is not visible, will display the program's GUI and allow you to enter configuration details or close the application.
