Network Probe
|
Network Probe is a free network monitor and protocol analyzer that gives you an instant picture of the traffic situation on your network and enables you to identify and isolate traffic problems. Traffic statistics are graphically displayed in real-time. Windows NT/2000/XP and Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris/MacOS X is supported.
Network Probe is a network monitor and protocol analyzer that gives you an instant picture of the traffic situation on your network and enables you to identify and isolate traffic problems. Traffic statistics are graphically displayed in real-time. The network probe runs on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris.
Network Probe will show you which protocols are being used on your network, which hosts are sending and receiving data, where the traffic is coming from, and when all this happens.
1. What is travelling through your network?
Instantly find out what protocols and server port numbers are in use on your network, how much traffic each of them have generated, and how many hosts and conversations are using each protocol. You can also see when the protocol was first in use and the last time of activity. You can also easily drill down further into the data to see who is using each protocol
2. Who is using your network?
See which hosts are sending and receiving data on your network. The list can be sorted by ingoing and outgoing traffic, and you can also see how many conversations each host has been engaged in as well as the number of protocols it has been using. You can search for hosts of interest, and drill down further into the data to see which protocols each host has been using.
3. Where does it all come from?
Find out which conversations are consuming most of the bandwidth on your network, see which other hosts a specific computer is sending to and receiving data from. Search for specific hosts and filter out conversations of interest. Drill down futher into the data to see which protocols a conversation use.
Network Throughput
When you log in to Network Probe, the main screen will show you the past and current total throughput on your network. It will also show you how many hosts, conversations, and protocols which have been discovered on the network segment since the last time the data was reset.
Network Probe will quickly give you an overview of the most active protocols, talkers, listeners, hosts, and conversations on you network.
1. Top Protocols
Network Probe will show you the top protocols in use on your network, sorted by bytes, packets, or the number of hosts or conversations using each protocols. Select how many entries you want to see and click on each entry to display its network throughput
2. Top Hosts
See which hosts are most active on your network, totalling inbound and outbound traffic for the host. You can display a top list for the throughput as well as displaying a list of the hosts engaging in the largest number of conversations or protocols. Click on each entry to display its traffic over time.
3. Top Talkers
Display the computers sending most data, either from your network or into your network. On all the topN windows you can control the length of the list.
4. Top Listeners
Display which of the discovered hosts are receiving most data, easily spotting hosts streaming or downloading large amounts of data from the internet.
5. Top Conversations
Network Probe will help you find the most active conversations on your network so you can see which endpoints are taking up the most of your network bandwidth.
