I am a network engineer and I usually need to draw an interactive network diagrams to plan the whole network layout when I begin to design a new network. However, this is not a easy job and it will spend my a lot of time and energy. I ever expect that there is a handy and powerful tool that can help me. So I search the web here and there and fortunately I caught sight of a great utility that suits me. That is Network Notepad which was published by Jason Green. Network Notepad is a utility for drawing interactive network diagrams, with user definable management features such as point and click telnet, FTP, HTTP and Ping. The objects can be selected from the supplied library and dragged into the diagram, where they can be linked together using different link styles. The diagrams can be linked with other diagrams and we can also call any third party application with the IP address or object name supplied as the argument. The diagram can be exported as bitmap file. Network Notepad currently supports English, French, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Dutch, German, Czech, Swedish, Turkish, Polish, Japanese, Korean Hungarian and Serbian languages. Network Notepad is total free and the main features and functions of it include: Runs on Microsoft Windows 9x, NT, 2K, XP, Vista. Point-and-Click Telnet/ Browse/ User-definable Network Management. Simple Drag and Drop interface. Open, Text Based File Format. Printing. Linked Diagrams. Flow Charts and so on. The latest version of Network Notepad is 4.6.2 and the newest features of it include: Bezier Curve links: Uses one or two Link nodes as control points for the curve. New menu option "Show Link Nodes" to make the control points visible. Increased number of user-defined functions to 10. Copy and Paste now uses the Windows Clipboard, so we can copy and paste between two instances of the program. Copy and Paste from a text file to our diagram. Use CSV file for language. This option in Setup Screen makes it easier to add and customize the language text strings. Quick Resize keys. Use Shift + and Shift - to resize the current object and so on.
