Monitor and analysis the running status of network is the key work of network administrators. But the data and informations about the running status of network are very complex and abstract. I am an administrator of a small company and it is very difficult for me to clear about how about the network is and what has happened on it at once. If there is a simple and intuitionistic way to show us the status of network distinctly and simply Fortunately, a friend of mine introduce me a powerful and easy-to-use utility which can monitor network interfaces via SNMP. That is Multiple Interface Watcher, did you hear about it It is an ideal solution for network administrators to graph the utilization of different network interfaces. Are you a network administrators and do you have the same troubles as me Well then Multiple Interface Watcher is the best assistant you should have. Give it a try and I insure that you will love it soon.

Multiple Interface Watcher (MIW) enables network administrators to graph the utilization of up to 20 different network interfaces. The data is requested from the devices using SNMP and percentage values are calculated and displayed in the graphs. The devices are loaded via a config file, and it provides options to customize the displayed values and polling intervals. Multiple Interface Watcher can generate a file with a list of devices that you want to monitor. Each line in that file must follow the format given in the example file and be careful do not use more than 20 lines. Start MIW and open our device file. We will see that a number of graphs have changed their color; they are now activated with our information. Click on "Start polling" to start the monitoring.

The key functions and features about this software include: There are two places to change options: either by clicking on "Show more" which expands the GUI to show polling intervals and other options or we select ToolsOptions from the menu to change graph behavior. All of the options are self explanatory like "stay on top" and polling intervals. If not, just try them out. We can choose whether we want to define a 100 MBit full duplex line as a 100 or a 200 MBit bandwidth. Each case has its advantages and disadvantages: if we choose 100 MBit and we send large volumes of traffic in both directions we will find that we end up with utilizations greater than 100%. On the other hand, if we choose a bandwidth of 200 MBit and we send 100 Mbit in one direction an 2 MBit in return we will have a utilization of only 52% although our line is filled to the max in one direction. Therefore it is sometimes better to only show IN or OUT traffic on full duplex interfaces. Note: Zyxel router are known to have problems with SNMP monitoring. The designers of Multiple Interface Watcher can not guarantee that MIW or any other software by them will work with all the hardware. Some manufacturers do not adhere to the RFCs of SNMP and default MIB values. Therefore we can try before buy it as well as the software is only time-limited and has no restrictions in its functionality.

Multiple Interface Watcher provides a compact, friendly interface. Not only can beginners use it simply but also experienced users can also use it for advanced application. Multiple Interface Watcher is an ideal solution for network administrators.
