Support migration of Microsoft Exchange to Microsoft Online Services. Microsoft Online Services Migration Tools can be used to support migration of Microsoft Exchange to Microsoft Online Services. Use the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tools to forward copies of your Exchange Server mail to your Exchange Online mailboxes. You can also use the Migration Tools to copy content from your Exchange Server, POP3, or IMAP4 e-mail server mailboxes to your Exchange Online mailboxes. Microsoft Online Services provides tools to help you migrate your e-mail environment to Microsoft Exchange Online. Using the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tools, Microsoft Online Services supports migrations from:
* On-premises Microsoft Exchange Server mailboxes
* POP3 and IMAP4 mailboxes

To install the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tools
Step 1. In the Microsoft Online Services Administration Center, click the Migrate tab, click the Mailbox Migration page, and then choose to download and install the correct version of the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tools.

Step 2. Click Run when prompted, and then click OK to start Setup. Setup performs prerequisite checks for Windows PowerShell and the Microsoft .NET Framework, and directs you to install them if required.

Step 3. When the license information appears, you must accept the terms to continue the installation.

Migrate from On-Premises Exchange Server Mailboxes
When migrating from local Exchange Server mailboxes to Exchange Online, you can establish e-mail and directory coexistence between your local environment and Microsoft Online Services, and perform a migration over time. Migration of your on-premises Exchange Server mailboxes includes all mailbox items, calendar items, tasks, and contacts.

Migrate from POP3 and IMAP4 Mailboxes
When migrating from POP3 and IMAP mailboxes, you can use the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tools to copy the contents of the POP3 or IMAP mailboxes to Exchange Online mailboxes.
