MariaDB is a database server that offers drop-in replacement functionality for MySQL1. MariaDB is built by some of the original authors of MySQL, with assistance from the broader community of Free and open source program developers. In addition to the core functionality of MySQL, MariaDB offers a rich set of feature enhancements including alternate storage engines, server optimizations, and patches.

One of the goals of the MariaDB project is to provide a best-of-breed documentation system. Monty Program and our highly skilled and technically savvy user and developer communities will work in concert to deliver on this goal.

Besides its core functionality of MySQL, MariaDB offers a rich set of feature enhancements including alternate storage engines, server optimizations, and patches.

In addition to the standard MyISAM, Blackhole, CSV, Memory, and Archive storage engines, the following are also included with MariaDB Source and Binary packages:
