MDAccess is a charting/reporting software that reads data from OLAP/multi-dimensional Access/SQL Server databases created by ETR, PointMan Reporter, or MDAccess itself.

MDA (Multi-Dimensional) Access/Sql Server databases can be constructed from simple Excel spreadsheets that have several columns, at least one of which is numeric. They can also be built from data queried from a Sql database that results in multiple columns with at least one numeric column. The option to build these databases is available in MDAccess under the 'Database' menu item.

Currently MDA databases can be created by: * ETR, the Element Table Reporter * PointMan Reporter * MDAccess

The MDA Database is constructed by the above listed programs. The original souce of the data, that is the data source for the MDA Database constructor programs could be a database of any one of the following types: * Sql Server * Oracle * Access * Excel

The MDA Database is conceptually a cube of data similar to a two, three, four, or more, dimensional array of numbers. The MDAccess software acts as a wrapper to the database, or essentially a software that makes the numbers in the database viewable.
Additionally, the MDAccess software offers Calculations that extend the reporting and analysis abilities of the software by providing the capability to perform minor algebraic calculations on the data from the various dimensions.
The charts (Plots) can be any one of various Plot Types (pie, line, parallel bar, spreadsheet etc.) and for any given selection of data source Elements from the MDA Database, the source data is displayed accordingly. That is, for a given set of selected data elements, that set can be displayed as a Pie chart, a Bar chart, or a Line chart, etc.

The source data comes from a Select query or Stored procedure call to one of the above data sources that return a two dimensional table of data. From there MDA Database attributes are specified, and an MDA Database can be built.
With MDAccess youll be able to easily create charts and spreadsheets from multi-dimensional databases.
