Turns you computer into a strong Karaoke machine. Karaoke Thingy was designed to provide 100's of hours of real fun to your life! It turns you computer into a strong Karaoke machine - so to speak.

Actually, it was an idea of my 13 year old daughter: one day she asked me if I could create a utility application to allow her to sing along with her favorite MP3's and have the lyrics displayed/ highlighted in sync to the song as it plays - just like an expensive Karaoke machine. I kind of "spaced off" the idea, for awhile, but as I got into programming/ development I discovered that even an old fossil like me was having ton's of fun with it. I'm betting you will too!

Karaoke Thingy Features:
1. gives you on-line links to find, and copy, the lyrics of your song (project) into a text file
2. option to create a new "project" - select the audio file and the matching txt lyrics file to load into the screen
3. now you're ready to create your Karaoke "project"
4. click the PLAY button to start playing the song - the first word of the matching lyrics file will be highlighted.
5. anytime you want to "sync" the lyrics word with the audio - either press the spacebar (of your keyboard) or click the "Add Marker" button.
6. anytime you "sync" a word the program automatically highlights the next word in the lyrics string.
7. continue onwards till the song stops- if you think you did a pretty good job syncing (I've found that it really doesn't have to be perfect!) - then click the "Save Project" button.
8. if you want to start over again then just click the Play button and do so.
9. you will be offered two options of saving:
* save "as is" - meaning that you want to save using the audio file just as it is
* save "with audio vocal reduced" - attempts to remove, or most likely reduce (see more info about vocal reduction further down this page), the vocal from the audio file basically that's all there is to creating a "Karaoke project"/ set of files
10. now you can load up the project into the included player - do so by activating the included PLAYER via it's menu item (in the menu bar at the top of the screen).

What does this player do?
1. loads the projects lyics into a window, loads the projects audio file into the audio player, highlights the first word of the lyrics.

2. click the Play button and the audio plays and highlights the lyrics the way you "marked/ synced" when you created the project. It's just like what you've probably seen at a Karaoke session somewhere - at sometime.

Other options include...
1. set the back color of the lyrics screen - font color as well option to maximize the screen
2. option to activate the Windows sound configuration applet - use to set the playback and/ or record source of your soundcard
3. option to delete a project

Requirements:
* DirectX 8+ (XP, Vista & Wins 7 have installed by default)
* Pentium 300 or above with at least 16MB RAM (32MB for 2000/XP, 512MB for Vista or Wins 7).
* A sound card.
