JitBit Net Profile Switch is a tool for laptop users who frequently travel between network locations (e.g. home/office) and need to adjust their network settings accordingly. The program enables us to create multiple network profiles and switch between them with a single click. The profiles can contain the basic TCP/IP configurations as well as preferences for browser proxy settings, network drives and shares, Windows Firewall settings (on/off), default printer, VPN and Dial-up, as well as the SMTP server to be used by our email program. We can create profiles for multiple locations and simply activate the selected profile to have all our settings applied without the need for any manual configurations.

The key functions and benefits of JitBit Net Profile Switch include:

1. With JitBit Net Profile Switch we can use our laptop/notebook on multiple networks. Assume we have a DHCP-enabled network at our office, and a static IP-address assigned to our network card at home. Every time we connect our notebook or laptop to a new network, we have to change network adapter settings manually. But, wouldn't it be easier to store two profiles (called "office" and "home") and switch between these two profiles If we deal with two or more locations, we can benefit from this net switcher utility which creates a profile with our configuration settings: TCP/IP-settings, browser-proxy (Firefox-compatible, Opera-compatible), network drives, default printer settings, SMTP server address etc. Then we can easily switch between locations by activating a profile.

2. With JitBit Net Profile Switch we can manage network profiles simply. After the program starts it displays available network profiles in main window area. If the program is started for the first time, the window is empty and we are prompted to create a new profile. To create a new network profile press the "New" button on a toolbar. To delete the currently selected network profile press the delete keyboard button, or select this item in the context menu. We can also "clone" a network profile - create an identical copy of the selected profile.

3. JitBit Net Profile Switch allows us to edit an existing network profiles. To edit a network profile, click the "Edit" button on a toolbar after selecting a profile. An editor window will come up allowing us to adjust the profile's name, its network properties, web-browser settings, firewall and printer settings etc. All changes made to the profiles collection (including adding and deleting profiles) are not saved until we press the "Save" button changes toolbar button. Pressing this button will save all changes to all profiles, including adding new profiles and deleting existing ones. All profiles are saved to the file which is located in the Windows "Application Data" folder.

4. For switching a network profile, we need to activate a profile. To activate a network profile, select it and click the "Activate" button on the toolbar or double-click a network profile in the list (if the appropriate option is set up in the Settings). Or right-click a network profile and select "Activate" from the context menu. A message "Activating, please wait" will appear in the status bar. Wait until this message is changed to "Done". We can close Net Profile Switch and start working with our network. We must note that activating a network profile is usually fast, but sometimes it can take several moments (up to 10-15 seconds), depending on various things: current network traffic, link speed etc. Also note, that, for example, incorrect DHCP-profiles may not activate correctly in a static-IP network environment, and vice versa. Choose the right profile to activate. Also note, that profiles may not activate correctly if our network cable is unplugged.

5. On the other hand we can switch a network profile from the command prompt. For example: we can input "NetProfileSwitch.exe office". The above command will activate a network profile named "office" (if found).

6. JitBit Net Profile Switch works with Windows Vista, does not require administrative permissions and is fully compatible with UAC (User Account Control).

7. JitBit Net Profile Switch provides a lot of options for us. Such as: We can set Net Profile Switch to start up with Windows, start minimized, auto-close after activating a network profile, automatically select the last activated profile in the list etc. Also we can adjust how Net Profile Switch reacts when we double-click a profile in the list. By default, a double-clicked profile is opened for editing, but we set Net Profile Switch to activate a double-clicked profile.
