The data are saved using compression and powerful encryption, to ensure that, once saved, it will be impossible for a malicious user to access to them without a passkey, or even to know that they are meaningful data at all - they'll look just random rubbish to everyone but you ("plausible deniability").

For the same reason, a later goal of the software is to be able to embed the data into images, or emails, with just a little touch of steganography.
