JBidWatcher is a Java-based application allowing you to monitor auctions you're not part of, submit bids, snipe (bid at the last moment), and otherwise track your auction-site experience. It includes adult-auction management, MANY currencies (pound, dollar (US, Canada, Australian, and New Taiwanese) and euro, presently), drag-and-drop of auction URLs, an original, unique and powerful 'multisniping' feature, a relatively nice UI, and is known to work cleanly under Linux, Windows, Solaris, and MacOSX from the same binary.

It includes adult-auction management, MANY currencies (yen, pound, dollar (US, Canada, Australian, and New Taiwanese), Swiss Francs, and euro, presently), drag-and-drop of auction URLs, a unique and powerful multisniping feature.

The key tabs to fill in, are:
eBay
Enter your eBay user ID and password, this remains on your computer, and is only used for pulling data off of eBay, bidding, and sniping.

Browser
This used to be a tough one. Now, the best thing to do is just 'test'. If that doesn't work, you want to 'auto detect' browser if possible, and adjust from there. You want to put something in that will launch your browser.

Sniping
The program defaults to 30 seconds, which is not a bad idea if you're on a dialup, but is way too long if you're on an always-on fast connection. If you have DSL or a Cable Modem, you can bring it down to 10-15 seconds.

JBidWatcher has to offer via the Options. You can configure all sorts of things like the ability to synchronize its own internal clock with eBay's current time. That is extremely important because if your clock is offer by the smallest amount of time it could cause your snipe to be placed after the auction has already ended.

JBidWatcher even has a built-in searcher that can be set to do eBay searches at a given interval. By using this, you can be notified very quickly after new auctions are added for a particular item that you might be hunting down for a great deal.

Using the Multiple Snipes feature you can do just that and as soon as you win one of the auctions for your designated price, it will not bid on any of the others that are part of the Multiple Snipe group.

If you are an eBay user then I am sure that you'll find value in using sniping software.
