Making a GIF animation is simple in Ignite.
Use frames: Create a frame for each frame of your animation. Frames can be easily inserted and removed using the Frame properties pane on the Inspector.
Populate your frames: There are several ways you can do this in Ignite, use one or more them to set up your frames...
Add images to each frame by importing artwork.
Use Ignite's drawing tools.
If you have multiple individual files to make up the frames of your animation, use the Open many into frames feature from the File Menu to select the files and control the order they are opened in.
If you have already created artwork for your animation in Photoshop with each frame of the animation on a separate layer then choose File /Import to open that Photoshop file. Then in the Photoshop Load Options dialog box choose Load Image as layers and select Load each layer as a frame and Ignite will load each of your selected layers into a new frame.
Ignite can also work directly from Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and other graphics program as a plugin. Send your artwork directly to Ignite to populate the frames of your animation.

Working with web safe colours
Web safe colours form the basis for much of the Ignite interface, and this fundamental requirement is reflected throughout Ignite. This means high quality - repeatable - results with minimum effort.
With Ignite you can...
* use the default web safe colour palette in the Colour Picker
* choose a new colour from the colour wheel in the Colour Picker and have Ignite automatically select the nearest matching web safe colour for you
* select an individual colour in your bitmap and make it web safe
* adjust the percentage of web safe colours included in your palette
* You can select a colour in several ways...
* using the web palette slider control
* using RGB, HSV or CMYK values, represented in either Decimal, Hex or as a Percentage
* use the colour wheel itself
Working with hybrid colours
an enlargement of an image using a hybrid colour showing the alternating pixels
What are hybrid colours
Extended or hybrid web safe colours are made by combining alternating pixels of two web safe colours in a 2x2 checkerboard pattern. This means that you can work with a palette of up to 1,331 extended web safe colours rather than the simple 216 colours of the web safe palette.
Using hybrid colours in Ignite
Set Ignite to use hybrid colours
To use hybrid colours in your GIF image simply go to Output view and set Extended WS to Yes in the Palette properties pane of the Inspector. Ignite will then convert your non web safe colours to hybrid colours.
Create your own
If you open the palette of your GIF by clicking the Show palette button on the Web safe palette pane in the Inspector, you can change any of your palette colours to hybrid colours by right clicking on the colour and choosing Make hybrid. Once you have hybrid colours in your palette, you can edit them by right clicking on them and choosing Edit hybrid. You can now choose which colours make up the hybrid colour.

All you need to do now is click the Save this output button on the Inspector and it's done. Of course you can easily optimize the GIF yourself using the Inspector if you want to.
The Ignite interface
Working with Source and Output files
When you start a new file or import some artwork in Ignite you'll see that your image is in source view. Ignite keeps your original artwork in the source view. When you want to create a web image from your artwork click the New output button and choose a file type (GIF, JPEG, PNG or WBMP). Give the new file a name, Ignite makes an output file for you. There are several advantages to this way of working...
* You never overwrite your original artwork with a GIF file. Anyone who's ever done this will appreciate just how useful this is!
* You can have as many output files as you want. So you might want to try your image as a GIF and a JPEG, or you might want to try several GIFs with different palettes and bit depths.
* You can compare the different output files side by side to see which you prefer.
* You can easily save any of the output files, or all of them at once, just by clicking the Save all outputs button on the toolbar.
Customizing Ignite
Our beta testers clearly showed us that each person has their own way of working and doing things. As a result of appreciating that everyone is an individual Ignite is an extremely customizable program, and if you find something that doesn't suit your working methods it is likely that it is a changeable default.
