IPHost Network Monitor will help you to:
1. Find and fix performance bottlenecks and downtimes.
2. Reduce costs by making hardware purchasing decisions based on the actual performance of current systems.
3. Reduce costs by saving the time of system administrators.
4. Increase profits by avoiding big losses caused by late warnings about problems.

IPHost Network Monitor provides constant monitoring of your network's services and resources that are critically important for your company. Unlike many monitoring tools IPHost Network Monitor checks not only the availability of a resource but also its operability and performance characteristics.

The base element in IPHost Network Monitor is a monitor; it is checking the availability of a service on a remote computer and requesting the value of a certain parameter. The monitor has parameters that determine:
1.how often monitor should be checked (polling interval) and dependency on other monitor,
2.monitor definition (what and how should be checked - monitoring parameters),
3.actions to be performed when problems appear (action profile),
4.two levels of unavailability of monitored server (host), service or software (timeout for Down state and latency for Extended Down state).
5.two levels of unacceptable performance of monitored service or software (Performance Warning level and Performance Alert level).

IPHost Monitor Features: Adjustable Actions and Notifications
IPHost Network Monitor supports different methods of automatic reaction to undesirable changes on the resources and systems being monitored. The actions are tied to the monitors and are performed when a monitor transition to one of the problem states occurs or when monitor recovers from problem state, i.e. when performance or availability issue with monitored object has resolved.

One of the main tasks of the monitoring system is execution of actions as the monitoring system's reaction to the appearance of performance and availability problems in the operation of resources being watched. Prompt and informative notification of a problem helps to substantially reduce the downtime of important resources, which as a result decreases the loss of work time of monitored systems and applications users and improves the impactfulness of administrator work.

In IPHost Network Monitor all actions are gathered in one common list of actions. All actions are available for work with any monitor. The types of actions are:

1.Send mail. Sending an Email to persons concerned. Some variables may be used in the message template, such as $MonitorName, $CurrentState, etc., which allows for instance using one template for any changes of state.
2.Send SMS. Sending SMS to mobile phones. Your mobile provider have to support Email to SMS service. Sending SMS using GSM modem or mobile phone will be implementing soon.
3.Pop-up window. It is a standard balloon connected to the software icon in the system tray with the message about a problem (state change).
4.Net Send. It is a similar standard window with a message, a standard dialogue with a message on a remote machine.
5.Starting a program. Starting an executable file or executing the code of a script in a language supported by Windows Scripting Host. The path to the file and arguments should be specified.
6.Sending Jabber message. Jabber is now wide spread, for example Google Talk is based on Jabber.
7.Sending ICQ message. You should have ICQ account to use the action.
8.Sending AOL message. You should have AOL messenger account to use the action.
9.Play Sound. You can use any mp3 or wav sound files. Sound will be played if Windows client software are started or Alerts tab in Web interface are opened.
