IEWatch is a plug-in for Microsoft Internet Explorer that helps you achieve your web development and web analysis tasks more efficiently. Combining power and flexibility with ease of use, IEWatch appeals to an entire spectrum of web experts:
The IEWatch work area consists of two distinct modes, HTTP Analysis and HTML Analysis.

Why IEWatch?
* Ease of Use - When working with IEWatch you will discover that we put a lot of emphasis in the user interface to make it intuitive and easy-to-use.
* Reliable - IEWatch has been refined and tested for years. It is the trusted tool of market leaders.
* Comprehensive - With an array of time saving features, IEWatch gives you the web tools for almost every situation you encounter.
* Flexible - The IEWatch work area can be individuated with Visual Studio style docking windows.
* Future Proof - IEWatch is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Vista.
* Integrates with WebReplay - Automate web sites to create highly reproducible and consistent tests while logging HTTP information in IEWatch.
* Professional - IEWatch is backed by a company that provides you with updates and professional support.

The IEWatch work area consists of two distinct modes, HTTP Analysis and HTML Analysis.

HTTP Analysis
In HTTP Analysis mode you can view HTTP GET query strings, POST data and request/response cookies. IEWatch can display unencrypted HTTPS data so you can view HTTP information at the same level of detail even when using secure connections (HTTPS).
IEWatch reliably logs thousands of HTTP transactions allowing you to track down hard to find issues.

You can compare HTTP headers of two requests by using an external diff utility, for example Microsoft WinDiff. Just select the two requests you would like to compare and choose 'Compare Selected' from the context menu.

IEWatch allows you to tag an HTTP request with a note. Notes are useful to label specific requests or to relate HTTP requests to HTML pages.

For HTTP performance analysis, IEWatch can display HTTP duration information in a timeline chart. You can use the timeline chart to spot performance bottlenecks and to tune the performance of your web site.
Filtering HTTP Data
To help reduce the sheer volume of HTTP requests, IEWatch allows the most extensive filtering, including filters on HTTP headers and response content. Using the 'Find in HTTP Log' functionality you can even seek through the HTTP log information of all the web sites you previously visited.

Defining filters is a simple task in IEWatch. Just click on the filter button located on the toolbar, type in the search criteria and after applying the filter, only the requests that contain the search criteria are displayed in the main list. Multiple Filter definitions can be stored for later usage.

The Filter options allow you to combine filter conditions with AND/OR, to exclude matching entries and filter case (in)sensitive.

Instant Information
Instead of having to search RFC documents to find HTTP status codes or header definitions, IEWatch allows you to click on the item of interest. Then just press F1 and a help window will be displayed that contains the status code or header definition. Information at your fingertips!

HTML Analysis
Furthermore IEWatch offers a 'HTML Analysis' mode where a tree structure gives you an overview of the HTML elements that are embedded in the page. The tree view reflects exactly the structure of frameset/iframe documents even if the page contains many sub documents. It displays only the HTML elements the page contains, making it easy to navigate through the document structure.

The page summary node displays the page statistics including page load time, page weight and the count of HTML elements the page contains.
You can use the HTML Spotlight feature to locate HTML code by directly clicking in the browser page.

IEWatch allows rapid prototyping and script debugging. You can modify the HTML, Style Sheets and Scripts of any web page to quickly test code and develop prototypes without having to create development environments. The Immediate window allows you to trace script debug messages, evaluate variables or issue commands.

IEWatch Tools
A variety of tools are available from the tools menu, including:
Capture Screenshot allows you to take screenshots of a complete web page or Internet Explorer window and email or save the screenshot. With Window Transparency you can apply transparency to the IE window which is useful for comparing a modified page or image to the original. Additionally you can apply transparency to the IEWatch window to monitor HTTP traffic while viewing the web page. Resize IE Window allows developers to resize and fine tune web pages to different screen sizes. The Color Picker can be used to pick the color of any pixel on the screen or you can choose a color in the color palette. The Request Builder tool allows simulating HTTP requests including RFC 1867 file uploads and analyzing the HTTP server response.

Scripting Interface
IEWatch Professional automatically installs a scripting interface which seamlessly extends the Internet Explorer DHTML object model. The scripting interface allows you to integrate IEWatch with any testing framework (for example NUnit, JSUnit, IEUnit, Rational, QTP etc.) that supports COM objects. Almost all Windows programming languages support this technology, including the free Windows Scripting Host, Visual Basic 6, VB.NET, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Phyton and Ruby. This allows you to track down hard to find web software bugs by recording low level HTTP communication during the test runs.
For more information on the scripting interface please view the help file and the samples in the software folder.

IEWatch Docking Panels
Most of IEWatch's screen area is occupied by panels. Each panel serves a separate purpose in your work with IEWatch. You can even undock the IEWatch window from Internet Explorer. This is especially useful for dual monitor configurations or when using a high resolution monitor.
The size and layout of panels are not fixed. You can change panel sizes by dragging the separator between them. But the most important feature about these panels is their docking ability which allows you to have a flexible environment that can be configured so that it fits how you work.
