The purpose of HDD Guardian is to provide a graphical interface to smartctl, part of the S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring Tools, in order to make this nice utility accessible to all Windows users. It alerts you in case of imminent failure, temperature threshold or vital parameter change.

HDD Guardian offers the capability to place an icon in the tray area, whose purpose is to alert you of failures or changes of devices sensitive parameters.
When expire the time set for the update, HDD Guardian perform new tests through smartctl and then analyze its contents. In the event of imminent failure, extreme heat or changes of vital parameters, inform the user of changes.

HDD Guardian can export and import reports of the units. In a context of local area network is possible for the system administrator to monitor all disks of the computers in the LAN. To share local drives, you must select a destination folder where HDD Guardian will save the report after the set refresh timing, you can also select the disks that you want to share. To add the remote units to monitor, simply select the log file and enter the description into the box.
