Guitar and Bass
Guitar and Bass is a FREE Windows software for fretted instruments, such as Guitar, Bass, Banjo, and Mandolin. (New instruments and tunings can be added too).
You will get everything a musician need, including: Scale/chords/intervals references and exercises. A Tablature viewer and editor. Ear training exercises. And practice tools.
1. Chord Generator
This window shows all the notes that form a chord on the fretboard.
You can select the note, and chord type at the top of the window.
At the bottom of the window are displayed the intervals that form the chord. You can change these intervals at will to build new chords. Use the save button next to the chord type to save the chord once you made modifications
2. Common Chords
This window shows the formation of common chords on the fretboard.
Note that only chords using the standard tuning are displayed in this window.
3. Exercise manager
This window provides you with a list of exercises available in this software, and the history of your exercise sessions.
In this window are displayed the basic intervals for a given note.
You can select the note, as well if you want Ascending or Descending intervals at the top of the window.
5. Jam Band
What's the Jam band ?
It is a tool to help you build chords progressions, so you can practice over them. These progressions are played using Drums, Bass, and Guitar. You can easily transpose these progressions to any key, and change the tempo as you desire.
It supports 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 measures. 3/8, 6/8 and 12/8 are not supported, but can be created using triplets in the patterns.
6. Key finder
This will help you find to which key a list of chords belong.
Type the chords in the textbox, and the results will be updated.
Note that only Major (Ionian), Natural Minor, Harmonic, and Melodic keys will be searched.
This window shows the chords that belong to the selected key.
Only triads and seventh chords are shown.
You can configure this metronome to increase speed automatically. This is great for practicing picking.
Use the Tap button to get the BPM from a certain beat.
You can save your presets using the Preset bar, at the top of the window
9. Scale generator
This window shows all the notes that form a scale on the fretboard.
You can select the note, and scale at the top of the window.
You can add new notes to the selected scale, by clicking on the empty fret. Likewise, you can erase a note from a scale, by right clicking on it. Use the save button next to the scale list to save it once you made modifications.
10. TAB Editor
The Tab editor allows you to view, edit, and play tablature files.
Note that only ASCII tabs are supported. These usually have the *.tab and *.txt file extensions.
