FoxFilter is a simple to use addon for your Firefox browser. FoxFilter was recently called "THE parental control for Firefox."! FoxFilter is a personal content filter add-on for the Mozilla Firefox browser that helps block pornographic and other inappropriate content as well as block access to user-specified content and Web sites. FoxFilter includes password-protected settings and security features to help prevent it from being bypassed, un-installed or disabled. A password recovery feature is also included.

FoxFilter helps block content for essentially any user-defined Web site or criteria. You can quickly and easily block content for an entire site (e.g. Playboy) or enter custom keyword filters (e.g. videos, movies, images/pictures, porn, nudity, gambling, explosives, etc.) that will be used to help filter content and block web sites and block pages for any website that contains these keywords.

Using FoxFilter: when installed, you should see "FoxFilter Settings" in the Firefox "Tools" menu. You can use this feature to change your personal preferences and sensitivity for FoxFilter.

Settings include the following:
1. Keywords to check for (porn, xxx, free AND adult, free AND sex, etc..) Note: using "AND" makes sure that both keywords were found.
2. Selection of what elements of the page should be examined: URL, Title, Meta Keywords, Meta Description, Body (recommend all)
3. URL Exceptions: Allows specific URLS to be excluded such as Yahoo.com (since they can contain "free AND sex" somewhere in the body)
4. Password Protection: User can assign/change password (default is "foxfilter")
5. Enable/Disable: User can turn off filtering as needed

FoxFilter helps block content for essentially any user-defined Web site or criteria. FoxFilter is designed to work with Firefox on Mac, Linux and Windows and includes password-protected settings and security features to help prevent it from being bypassed, uninstalled or disabled. A password recovery feature is also available.

All of the filtering features are still available to you free of charge! However, due to the volume of support requests pertaining to forgotten passwords as well as other support costs that we incur, security features are now only available to registered users. A small support fee is required to obtain a registration code. The FoxFilter Team has spent hundreds of hours in development, maintenance and support of FoxFilter. Please Note: If FoxFilter seems too sensitive, please keep in mind that if "Examine Body Content" is selected in the "Sensitivity Settings", FoxFilter can be VERY sensitive. You may encounter blocking for many non-pornographic sites, such as Yahoo.com, that contain "free" and "sex" somewhere in the body content. You can either choose to not examine the Body content and just examine Meta content, Title and URL, or add URL exceptions as needed.
