The FlexTk file management toolkit is capable of scanning disks, network shares and enterprise storage systems, classifying all the existing files and organizing them into a categorized file hierarchy. FlexTk automatically recognizes more than 2000 file types and allows one to browse or export the categorized file hierarchy, perform various actions on specific files or file groups and physically reorganize existing files according to a user-defined list of rules and policies. The FlexTk's built-in Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) engine allows one to define multiple HSM policies and apply them simultaneously during a single pass through one or more file systems.
FlexTk provides two distinct file classification and organizing modes: the manual file classification mode and the automatic file organizing mode. The manual file classification mode allows one to scan one or more file systems, process all existing files with a file classification plug-in and organize them into a categorized file hierarchy. Once the categorized file hierarchy is built, the user is provided with the capability to perform various operations on files or groups of files such as copy, move, delete or export file lists into a number of standard formats including HTML, Excel CSV and ASCII text.
The automatic file organizing mode allows one to define actions or commands that should be performed on files matching one or more user-defined criteria. The user is provided with the capability to define sophisticated file matching criteria based on the file class or class group, the file name, size, time, text or binary patterns, etc. An unlimited number of search criteria, in conjunction with the AND/OR logical operators, may be defined for each organizing operation.
In the automatic file organizing mode, files that are matching user-defined criteria may be copied or moved to a specific location, deleted or processed with a custom command. Multiple organizing operations, searching for different types of files and performing different actions or user-defined commands, may be executed during a single pass trough one or more file systems.
In order to simulate execution of one or more file organizing commands, select one or more file organizing commands and press the 'Preview' button. FlexTk will scan input files and directories and show the list of file organizing actions that should be performed. The user is provided with the capability to confirm or reject any specific file organizing action. After reviewing and confirming file organizing actions, press the 'Organize' button to apply all the selected operations. In addition, FlexTk allows one to export the list of file organizing actions into a number of standard formats such as HTML, Excel CSV and text.
Frequently used file organizing commands may be saved in the predefined organizing command list. To open the organizing command list dialog, select menu 'Organize - Edit Organize Commands' on the main menu bar.
