Below is an overview of the features available in Essential SQL:
1. Database Navigation
Browse Tables, Views, Procedures, Functions, Columns, etc. Connect to multiple databases simultaneously.

2. Navigator Details
Shows more detailed information about the node currently selected in the Database Navigator.

3. Database Connectivity
Connect to any database that supports ODBC. Custom support for SQL Server, Informix, Firebird, MySql, Postgre.

4. Reusable Connections
Once a connection is setup, there is no need to enter the connection information again.

5. SQL Query Editor With Syntax Highlighting
Allows execution of sql statements. Results can be output to a grid or to text. Results can then be saved to a file or printed.

6. Multiple Editors
Can be opened at the same time connecting to the same or different databases.

7. Class Generator
Generate C# or VB.Net classes from the database tables or views. Generated classes are serializable and can include references to other classes as defined through foreign keys.

8. Data Export
Export wizard to select tables or views to export. Export to a delimited file or to insert statements.

9. Simple Table Editor
Create new tables, Add/Edit/Delete fields of a table.

10. Open Tables/Views
Access to data, allowing add,edit and deletion of records without writing sql.

Running the Application
The first time the application is run the connection dialog will be displayed, because there are no connections defined for the system. To add a new connection; follow the steps below:
1. Click on Add New
2. Enter a connection name and optionally a description for the connection.
3. Select the Connection type (this example will use ODBC).
4. Select a template from ODBC template drop down.
5. Enter the appropriate attributes, username and password.
6. Click Apply
7. Click Test Connection to verify that your connection parameters are correct.

Note: The Connections dialog can be brought up at anytime from the menu Tools->Manage Connections.
