DriverManager requires no real installation. Simply unzip the executable from the zip file and run it. Note that there are two executables - DriverManagerNT .exe and DriverManager2K-XP.exe. One executable is specifically for Windows NT 4 he other is for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The difference between the two versions of DriverManager has to do with Windows File Protection 4 while found in Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Windows File Protection is a feature available on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It provides protection for important system files. If an software attempts to remove a system file or replace a file with a newer version illegally, Windows File Protection will automatically replace the removed or modified system file with its original version. Windows NT 4 does not have Windows File Protection.
DriverManager2K-XP adheres to the rules of Windows File Protection. If a driver is being protected by the operating system, DriverManager2K-XP will not allow the driver to be removed. Due to the fact that Windows NT 4 does not support Window File Protection system driver files are able to be removed. Note that DriverManagerNT will not run under Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
