DWSIM is a Chemical Process Simulator for Windows. Built on the Microsoft .NET Platform and featuring a rich Graphical User Interface (GUI), DWSIM allows chemical engineering students and chemical engineers to better understand the behavior of their chemical systems by using rigorous thermodynamic and unit operations' models with no cost at all. Even better, they can see how the calculations are actually being done - it is open source, that is, its code is available to anyone who wishes to discover the "magic" behind it or just do some browsing. It is able to simulate steady-state, vapor-liquid equilibrium processes with the following Thermodynamic Models and Unit Operations:
1. Thermodynamic Models: Peng-Robinson, Peng-Robinson with Volume Translation, Soave-Redlich-Kwong, Lee-Kesler, UNIFAC, Modified UNIFAC (Dortmund), UNIQUAC, NRTL, Chao-Seader, Grayson-Streed and Raoult's Law.
2. Unit Operations: Mixer, Splitter, Separator, Pump, Compressor, Expander, Heater, Cooler, Valve, Pipe Segment, Shortcut Column, Heat Exchanger, Conversion Reactor, Equilibrium Reactor, Gibbs Reactor, PFR, CSTR, Distillation Column, Simple, Refluxed and Reboiled Absorbers, Component Separator and Orifice Plate.
3. DWSIM also provides special information about the simulation and different means of inputting user data through Utilities and Tools:
