The Color Selector serves to find colors which go well together. The elements of the Color Selector are arranged in such way that a chosen color combination can be judged clearly and quickly. With the help of the Color Selector we can obtain 2-color harmonies, 3-color harmonies, 4-color harmonies, fannings and color rows.
It is of course also possible to put in an individual color combination.

If you follow the rules for setting up harmony contrasts that have been described in the chapter Harmony theory (tutorial), you will always obtain a matching color combination. It is almost impossible to combine unfitting colors in the Color Selector, except for one case: if someone deactivates the "automatic" and selects the colors separately.

Due to the sufficiently wide dimensioning of the colored fields and due to the possibility of adjusting the light/dark setting of the background it is quite easy to judge the effect of the respective color combination.

This helpfile is merely to demonstrate how the Color Selector works, it will not explain any technical terms from color therory and harmony theory; a detailed definition of these terms can be found in the tutorial. Please read the tutorial for more information about the technical terms.

The determined RGB-values are automatically converted into hexadecimal values in the Color Selector and can further be used via the clipboard.

RGB-values as well as values in HEX-format can be entered via the button "Manual Input". It is always the luminous color band that is shown when entering values because it covers the complete range of RGB-colors.

The color beneath the cursor can be applied into the Color Selector with ENTER or SPACE. This color will then be allocated to the big field. The luminous color band will automatically be chosen because it covers the whole RGB palette.

The colors as well as the colors' angles, which form the basis of the realistic color band, are based on the color wheel according to Roman Liedl.
