Bonzai3d is a intuitive 3D modeler. A small, intuitive software with BIG abilities. The goal is to offer conceptual and sketching stages of design, yet CAD accurate models that can be used further down the project pipeline for construction drawings, renderings, animation, 3D printing and so much more.

Bonzai3d was developed to fill in the gap for an affordable, quick, easy, simple, yet geometrically robust 3D modeler without restrictive limitations that can quickly bog down a project. It has a fluid, smart interface. It offers easy sculpting with real time booleans and all the classic modeling tools with real time dynamic editing.

The bonzai3d interface is composed of bonzai3d project windows supported by a set of menus, tool bars, and palettes. The project window is the focus of the interface. This is where a 3D model is created, edited, and displayed.

1. View navigation and control
There are a variety of ways to control the current view (navigate) in a bonzai3d modeling window. These include items in the View menu, the Navigation tool bar, key shortcuts, a 3Dconnexion space ball, and the View Parameters palette.

2. Prompts and numeric input
At the top left of the screen are the Action and Input palettes. They are designed to guide the user though the execution of a software by giving short instructions of what to do next, presenting essential options, giving numeric feedback, and allowing the user to type numeric input values in place of graphic input through the mouse.

3. Reference planes
Graphic interaction with bonzai3d is interpreted relative to the active reference plane. A reference plane is a plane in 3D space used as the workspace for drawing and the basis for other interactive actions.

4. Underlays
This is an image that can be imported and displayed on any active reference plane, useful for referencing or tracing. An underlay can be any of the available image formats (except Illustrator). These image files can be created in bonzai3d or by an external source such as another software or an image scanner.
