Bishop3D is an interactive modeler and animation tool for the popular freeware raytracer POV-Ray (Persistence of Vision Raytracer ), a world-class renderer for creating three-dimensional photo-realistic images.
Bishop3D is a POV-Ray dedicated modeler and animation system for the MS-Windows platform. It offers native animation support via key-framing, native POV-Ray SDL import ability and seamless integration with POV-Ray 3.6.

Bishop3D has been designed and built to work with POV-Ray raytracer on MS-Windows platform and it is currently undergoing fully public Beta tests.
The project goal is to deliver a stable, reliable, strong, extensible and easy-to-use tool to help POV artists and enthusiasts to produce still images and animation films.
The Renderer
POV-Ray is a freeware, stand-alone, world-class renderer that creates three-dimensional photo-realistic images taking as input a text file with the scene described in a script language known as POV-Ray Scene Description Language (SDL).
The Modeler
Bishop3D allows you to model the scenes interactively and it will automatically generate the correspondent POV-Ray SDL script. It offers native keyframe animation support, POV-Ray SDL import and a strong texture editor.
The Modeler-Renderer integration
Bishop3D communicates with POV-Ray via POV-Ray's extension interface providing a seamless integration between the modeler and the renderer. You can start render jobs and see the results without ever leaving Bishop3D.

* Translation, Rotation, scaling and Inverse kinematics manipulators
* Place and orient the objects by simply dragging the manipulator in the viewports.
* Direct manipulation of geometric attributes with the mouse
* Just drag the respective control point to adjust inner object parameters.
* Direct manipulation of the scene trees
* Scene objects can be copied, pasted or dragged and dropped directly on the scene trees.
* Direct Manipulation of the time line trees
* Tracks, sequences and keys can be copied, pasted or dragged and dropped directly in the time line trees
* Full undo/redo support
* Virtually every action can be undone and posteriorly redone via an action buffer
* Support for many POV-Ray primitives

As the project is still at its very first stages that are several points that need improvements
* The user interface is almost non-configurable.
* Texture items currently cannot be animated.
* The CSG evaluator works on the polygonal approximation of objects' boundary representation and it sometimes leads to unpleasant visual artifacts.
* The modeler only recognizes one font face per true type font file and - even worse - it can only work with the file if the font face name matches the file name.
* The object and function pattern are not currently supported.
