The Offshore Almanac provides self sufficient navigators with a wealth of long term reference data. Extensive tutorial and help sections provide a practical background and explanation of topics covered including:
1. Ephemeris pages for Sun, Moon, planets and navigational stars. Printable in familiar format and valid for years between 1980 and 2050 and complete with increments and corrections.
2. Sight Reduction Tables in Air Navigation Table style.
3. Sextant angle correction tables.
4. Distance off rising and setting lights.
5. Sun and Moon rise and set times with times of Nautical and Civil twilight.
6. Geomagnetic data - variation, dip and their annual rates of change.
7. Great circle course and distance plotter.
8. Visible Star prediction tables.
9. Night sky views of visible stars and planets for anywhere in the world.
10. Unit conversion utility.

Almanac has 4 main ephemeris sections. 2 give daily pages for Sun, Moon, Aries and planets where Greenwich Hour Angle (GHA) and Declination (Dec) are tabulated at hourly intervals. A third section provides increments and corrections for obtaining values for intermediate minutes and seconds. The fourth section gives Dec and Sidereal Hour Angles (SHA) for 59 navigational stars.

Almanac consists of two main parts:
1. The main program (Almanac.exe) This contains Almanac's main working parts, i.e. its mathematical routines, algorithms for computing long term astronomic and geophysical data, and procedures for preparing and formatting it in tabular or other visual style. For speed and efficiency, this part of the program is written in Visual C++.
2. The help file (Almanac.chm), which is closely connected to the main program and includes help and advice on how it is used along with tutorial guidance and background information on the data produced. The help file is written in compiled hypertext (html).
