Disk Encryption Tools Software Reviews

Do you have large numbers of files and data need to be protected? How about encrypt or password protect the entire disks or appointed partitions? Want to encrypt removable data storage drivers? The partition protector is an ideal solution for you. Now I will recommend some powerful yet easy to use partition protection software to you, they are: Cryptic Disk, Disk Password Protection and Master Voyager. We need not to worry about the security of our partitions once we have a powerful and handy partition protector. Do you need a partition protector? Why not come on with me and pick out a favorite partition protector now!

Cryptic Disk is designed for an easy and secure encryption of entire disks or their partitions. It ensures file security both on stationary hard disks and on any removable and portable storage devices (such as USB-drives, flash drives, laptop computers, etc.) through disk encryption and their password protection. In order to be accessed, the files saved on the encrypted disk require submitting a password created by us. This allows preventing data stored on a disk from unauthorized recovery when, for example, someone found a lost USB device or got access to our PC hard drive. The convenience of the program lies in the principle of on-the-fly encryption, or user-transparent encryption, meaning the encryption process requires minimum efforts and participation of the user. For the files stored on a disk to be secured with Cryptic Disk, they should be temporarily copied to another directory from the to-be-encrypted disk and, after a fully-automatic disk encryption process, are copied back to the now encrypted disk, where they will be automatically encrypted. On the whole, any files thereafter saved on to the encrypted disk will be automatically kept encrypted and secure. From the user's perspective, encrypted disks and disk partitions are not visible in the system upon operating system initiation unless the user activates them in the Cryptic Disk program (that can also be protected with a password for its launch restriction) and supplies a password to access them. The data being read or accessed with a password are automatically decrypted. At this point working with the files on an encrypted disk does not differ in any way from working on regular disks. Cryptic Disk suggests a configurable multi-user access system for the user with administrator's rights to set individual access rights for different users of the system, create passwords for them and establish various degrees of access privileges, including when it comes to accessing the system from the local network. These settings can also be saved and restored for further local network connections. Cryptic Disk uses a strong and currently most reliable AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) 256 cryptographic algorithm approved by the US government and applied by NASA and the FBI to secure their data, suggesting it will ensure a truly reliable file security. In case a user looses or forgets the password, Cryptic Disk provides for an optional export of the encryption key to a separate file. Do remember, however, that this key can be as well used by violators!

Disk Password Protection is a comprehensive suite of hard-drive protection/access restriction tools. Protect our disk/partitions with a password, ban all reading/writing activity, limit launch of specified files to authorized personnel only, etc. Disk Password Protection offers us the option to choose what kind of protection they need. First is the Boot Protection. When chosen, any unauthorized person will not be able to boot a computer without entering the correct password. The program also offers Partition Protection. Any person can chose to have one or several partitions where all confidential information is stored. When protection is activated, the partition will be invisible to the operating system and the disk space taken up by sensitive data will appear as free disk space. The Low-Level Protection option allows us to blocks all attempts to read/write to/from the protected disk. The drive itself will appear as if it were just manufactured and is not formatted to perform any operations. This protection works only for ATA-compatible disks and must be activated in MS-DOS.

Master Voyager enables us to create password protected (virtual) partitions on CDs/DVDs and USB drives. The partition can automatically be opened once the CD/DVD is inserted and the proper password is entered. The protected media does not install any software to the target computer. We can create one or more protected partitions from the application interface and then simply drag and drop files into them. Master Voyager uses 256-bit AES encryption and comes with built-in CD and DVD burning.
